2008-09: Dahlstrom skated in four Allsvenskan (Sweden second division) games with AIK as a 17-year-old while competing for AIK at the U20 and U18 levels. Dahlstrom had no points or penalty minutes with the men's team. In 28 games in the U20 SuperElit league, he scored 5 goals with 5 assists and had 67 PMs. In 18 games with the U18 team (including playoffs) he scored 8 goals with 20 assists with 64 PMs.
2009-10: Playing with AIK of the Allvenskan league, Dahlstrom posted 1 goal and 2 asssists in 6 games. Playing with team's SuperElit squad, he posted 4 goals and 6 assists in 5 games. Dahlstrom was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the 6th round, 161st overall.
2010-11: Dahlstrom made his Elitserien debut, dressing for one game with AIK, while splitting the season between Almtuna (Allsvenskan) and AIK's U20 team in the SuperElit league. Dahlstrom was scoreless with 4 PMs in 17 games with Almtuna and scored 4 goals with 6 assists in 18 SuperElit league games. AIK's U20 team finished sixth in the North Division but did not make the playoffs.
Dahlstrom sort of set the mold for recent Swedish draftees for the Ducks, a smallish, shifty, imaginative player with solid hockey sense and a well-rounded game. Injuries, size limitations and other factors may now limit his NHL potential, but one can understand what the Ducks saw in Dahlstrom.
Dahlstrom was not signed by the Ducks and has remained in Sweden.
