History
While Andrej Meszaros was earning accolades with his play on the senior squads for Slovakia and Trencin, Sekera was leading the respective junior squads with the same level of distinction. Sekera appeared in 42 games for the junior squad, posting 5 goals, 12 assists, and an impressive +37 rating. He also earned a brief cup of coffee with the Trencin ‘B’ Club (1st division) for 5 games and the ‘A’ club (Extraleague) for 3 games and did not look overwhelmed in the least.
Sekera also appeared for the Slovaks at the Viking Cup and 4-Nations tournament.
Most recently, Sekera was captain of the Slovakian squad at the World Under-18 Championships, where he 2 points and 18 PIM in 6 games.

Talent Analysis
Sekera is very similar to the aforementioned Meszaros, in that he is a skilled, finesse two-way defenseman with good skating skills and confidence that most of his peers don’t possess. Sekera is skilled and biased towards using his stick, rather than his body, to break up offensive forays.
Sekera doesn’t have quite the offensive gifts that Meszaros has, but he shows more willingness to lay the body and deliver some key hits. Despite his ‘average’ frame, Sekera is strong on his skates and can handle physical play quite adroitly.
Sekera has worn the Captain’s ‘C’ on more than one occasion, and is a natural leader on the ice with his ability to play with poise in every situation.
Future
Sekera has a great deal of potential. It’s very likely that his real upside lies as a two-way, No. 4 defenseman.
