History

2004-05: Gordon led all Huskies rookies in scoring with 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 38 games. His first two collegiate career points (goal and assist) came in the Icebreaker Tournament third place game versus Ohio State back on October 10, 2004.

2005-06: Gordon was perhaps St. Cloud State’s most consistent player in his sophomore campaign, leading the Huskies in scoring with 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) playing in all 42 games. The Porters Lake, N.S. native was part of SCSU’s outstanding top line that also featured seniors Joe Jensen (PIT) and Billy Hengen. Gordon’s seven power play goals, two short-handed goals and +19 all ranked tied for first on the team. Gordon, who has also excelled in the classroom, was named to the 2005-06 WCHA All-Academic Team.

2006-07: Gordon ended his three-year collegiate career at St. Cloud State (WCHA) tied for fourth in school history with 2.62 shots per game and sixth in shots with 315. His 23 career PPGs tied him for the fifth-most in school history and his +29 career rating tied for 10
th. He earned first-team All-WCHA honors in 2007 after ranking second on the team with 45 points and leading with 22 goals. His 22 goals tied him for second in the WCHA. Gordon netted three game-winning-goals on the season and ranked sixth in the league with 1.12 points per game. His 12 PPGs ranked second in the league and were second-best single-season total in team history. A three-time WCHA Player of the Week, Gordon was also named the InsideCollegeHockey.com National Player of the Week on Jan. 23. Not just successful on the ice, Gordon was named to the All-WCHA Academic Team.

2007-08: Gordon skated in 58 games for Hershey (AHL) and an additional 11 for South Carolina (ECHL). He ranked third in Hershey and tied for fourth among AHL rookies with 51 points (16+35), and also tied for second on the team and fifth among AHL rookies in assists. He had at least one point in seven straight games from Dec. 19 – Dec. 31. He netted two hat tricks on the season, the first on Jan. 12 against Lake Erie and the second on Feb. 6 vs. Portland. He recorded 14 multi-point games during the season. Gordon led Hershey in the postseason, recording five points (3+2) in five playoff games and eight point s (5+3) in nine playoff games for South Carolina. He also had 14 regular season points (8+6) in 11 games for South Carolina.

Talent Analysis

Gordon plays the game with loads of energy and intensity who seems to always be around the puck. His excellent scoring touch combined with his great hockey sense and awareness makes him a difficult player to defend against. Gordon has a keen sense of knowing where the play is going and often times is able to put himself in great scoring position. He is relentless in his puck pursuit and is a fierce competitor. He doesn’t shy away from getting physical to win the battles for pucks or space on the ice. Gordon skates with speed and has good acceleration. He possesses a great wrist shot and gets his shots off very quickly.
