History
Andrew Joudrey played his junior hockey for the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. In 2001-02, he was the Hounds Rookie of the Year.
In 53 games, he netted 27 goals and added 51 assists, tying him for seventh in the league for points with 78. That summer, he was drafted by the Washington Capitals in round 8, #249 overall. In 2003, he arrived at the University of Wisconsin where he quickly impressed coaches with is leadership, skating, his faceoffs and his defensive play. He has also spent a lot of time on the point during the power play.
He has recorded 14 goals and 46 points in 83 college games, and is not a physically intimidating player. He has spent a total of 20 minutes in the penalty box in two seasons at college.
2006-07 season: The Wisconsin Badgers team captain capped a stellar four-year career leading the team in scoring with 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists). His 20 assists also led the Badgers. Of Joudrey’s nine goals, four came on the power play and one came shirt-handed. The Bedford, NS native was also named one of the five finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award, which annually recognizes college hockey’s finest citizen.
Talent Analysis
Joudrey is hard working, reliable center man who possesses great versatility. In addition to center, he can play wing as well as on defense. He is an unselfish player and leads by example. Joudrey is a good playmaker that has a knack for being able to consistently find and get pucks to his teammates. He makes smart decisions with the puck and possesses great awareness in all three zones. His combination of sound defensive play, good transitioning and hockey sense makes him dangerous in penalty-killing situations, while his passing and playmaking ability makes him equally dangerous on the power play. Joudrey skates with good speed and moves through traffic well.
