2008-09: Rodin made his Swedish pro hockey debut, appearing in six games with Oskarshamn in AllSvenskan (the Swedish second league). He was the second-leading scorer for Brynas’ junior team in the Super Elit U20 league. Rodin had no points with 2 PMs for Oskarshamn. In 23 regular season games for Brynas, which finished first in the North Division, he scored 18 goals with 16 assists and was +25 with 32 PMs. In 14 games in Top 8 play he scored 11 goals with 10 assists and was +8 with 2 PMs. Rodin represented Sweden internationally at the U19 level and in 8 games scored 5 goals with 8 assists. Ranked 15th amongst European skaters in Central Scouting’s final rankings, he was selected by the Canucks in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft.

2009-10: Rodin skated in 36 games for Brynas as a rookie in Sweden’s Elitserien and had an outstanding tournament for Sweden at the 2010 U20 World Junior Championship. He scored 1 goal with 4 assists and was an even plus/minus with 8 PMs as Brynas finished sixth in the 12-team league. In Brynas’ five-game first round playoff series with Djurgardens he had 1 goal and was -2 with 4 PMs. Rodin tied Oilers prospect Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson for second overall in points (10) on the bronze medal-winning Sweden squad at the WJC. He scored 3 goals with 7 assists and had two game-winning goals. Rodin skated in eight games on loan to Mora in Sweden’s second league (AllSvenskan) and scored 2 goals with 2 assists. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Canucks in June 2010.

2010-11: Rodin returned to Sweden for a second season with Brynas and assumed a larger role for the club. He skated in 53 of 55 games for seventh-place Brynas and scored 7 goals with 19 assists; finishing -9 with 16 PMs. In five playoff games he had 1 goal with 1 assist and was -3.
