Anton Stralman

Prospect Grade: 8.0 B  (About Prospect Grades)

History

Anton Strålman opted out of the draft in 2004. At 6’0 and 176lbs, Strålman is not a giant and needs to bulk up in order to be successful at highest level in Sweden, where he is heading after a fine season in the Swedish second tier league.

2005-06: Stralman made a smooth jump to the Swedish Elite League last year, joining Timra IK. In 45 games, he registered only five points and 28 PIM, but he was able to keep up with the competition. He also was a member of the Swedish team in the 2006 World Junior Championship.

2006-07: Playing with Timra IK in the SEL, he tallied 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 53 Swedish Elite League games

Talent Analysis

Strålman has a good point shot, plays a smart passing game and is fairly reliable defensively although not being the strongest of players. His physical game is somewhat inconsistent and needs to work on improving the timing in his hits. His hockey sense, smarts and offensive skills makes Strålman, who is set to make his SEL debut with Timrå in September, an interesting prospect.
