Despite being passed over in the NHL Draft each time he was available, San Jose Sharks forward Barclay Goodrow signed an NHL contract with that club last March. And, less than a year later, Goodrow has potted his first NHL goal, which came in a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Read more»

In recent seasons, junior hockey has been a hotbed of talent for the San Jose Sharks. Just last year, Mirco Mueller, Chris Tierney and Barclay Goodrow were all in the CHL. That’s three young talented prospects that have already contributed with the big club this season.

As NHL clubs continue the pruning of their rosters in preparation for the 2014-15 season, the inevitable result is more ice time for veterans tuning up for the coming campaign which leads to fewer opportunities to shine for the younger NHL prospects. So, while there was still a busy slate of 2014 NHL preseason games played between Friday and Sunday, there were not as many notable prospect performances to choose from as there had been in the earliest days of the preseason.
