-05: Bill Thomas played his freshman year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Went onto lead all freshmen in scoring that year, which earned him CCHA Rookie of the Year honors. He also earned a spot on the CCHA All-Rookie Team and made the CCHA Second Team.
-06: Played sophomore year for the Mavericks where he skated with the team’s top offensive unit, which also accounted for 39 percent of the team’s offense. He went onto to lead the Mavericks in goals, which also helped UNO earn its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in the programs seventh year of existence. Even though the Maverick’s tourney berth was short-lived, Thomas' season was far from over. He signed with Phoenix as an unrestricted free agent and skated out the rest of 2005-06 season with the Coyotes in the NHL.
-07: Started the season with the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL. He was one of the team's consistent offensive forces. He earned a call up during the second half of the season and remained with the Coyotes for the rest of the year.
-08: Thomas spent the majority of the season playing for The San Antonio Rampage of the AHL where he finished second on his team in scoring with 52 points in 75 games. During mid-season Thomas was called up to the NHL and played in seven games before being sent back down in February.
Thomas is a patient, a goal scorer who knows where to go, and anticipates the game pretty well. Has an above average hockey sense.
