History

Festerling has appeared in four WHL seasons, earning 41 points in 177 games. Signed a three-year entry-level contract with Anaheim in September 2005 after a strong showing as a tryout during the Ducks rookie camp.

Talent Analysis

Festerling is a solid blueliner who skates well and is competent at both ends of the ice. He isn't the type of player who puts up a lot of points, but he can make a safe first pass and doesn't embarrass himself. Not that big, but not that small.

Festerling was passed over in two NHL drafts, but as he plays in his fourth season in the WHL, he already has what many draft picks never get: an NHL contract.

Future

A steadying influence on the blue line, he'll be called upon to provide the same air-tight play in his own end that he was known for in the WHL. Although the Ducks pipeline on defense is rather crowded at the moment, Festerling's character and intangibles will help him challenge for a spot in a few years time.
