He earned a spot on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team and finished the season with 22 points (9+13). He recorded a career-high three assists in the second game of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series at No. 7 Clarkson on Mar. 15. He was selected to the ECAC Hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 25. He was named a runner-up for the Hockey Commissioners’ Assocation Rookie of the Month award for October, November and again in December. He scored his first career goal, the game-winner, against Sacred Heart on Oct. 12. He totaled 53 PIM, which was good enough for the team-high. He finished the season with 90 shots on goal and 18 blocked shots.
Talent Analysis
Brian Day is characterized as a classic power-forward that always drives to the net hard. He is a tireless worker who is strong in his own zone and isn’t afraid to stir the pot, either. He’ll have to add bulk to his 6’, 186 lbs frame in order to use his style of play effectively in the NHL.
Future
Day attends Colgate University. His offensive game lacks polish, but given his work habits and defensive play, he could develop into a solid fourth-line/energy player at the NHL level.
