History
2004-05: Playing for the Pittsburgh Hornets (
2005-06: Severyn’s big offensive numbers playing for the Pittsburgh Hornets did not seem to carry over to the U-17 team. In 63 games, Severyn recorded 21 points (five goals, 16 assists). Playing for the silver medal winning Team USA U-17 squad at the 2006 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, Severyn recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in seven games.
2006-07: Severyn made the jump to the U-18 team, and saw his stats continue to fall. In 48 games, Severyn recorded only 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) and 50 PIM. Two of his goals came on the power play, and one of his goals was a game winner. One positive was his strong play against NCAA opposition. Over half of his points came the 23 games he played against NCAA squads. He notched nine of his 16 points in these games (four of his six goals and five of his 10). He also finished in the top five on the NTDP in PIM against NCAA opponents with 24.
Talent Analysis
Severyn is a tough forward who will not back down from physical play. One area he needs to improve on is his aggressiveness in the offensive zone. He has demonstrated offensive ability, but at times seems to shy away from a scoring chance.
