2008-09: Scored 76 points in 68 games for Saginaw.
2009-10: Chappell participated in the 2009 Traverse City Prospects Tournament and signed a free-agent contract with the Rangers in July 2011. Chappell opened the season with AHL Hartford but saw limited ice time in six games and was sent to ECHL Charlotte in late November. He was scoreless and an even plus/minus with 5 PMs for the Wolf Pack. Chappell was limited to 11 ECHL games with Charlotte due to injury and scored 1 goal with 3 assists and was +4 with 2 PMs.
2010-11: Chappell played five AHL games with Connecticut in a January call-up; spending most of the season with ECHL Greenville. He was scoreless in five games with the Whale. In 53 ECHL games with the Road Warriors he scored 9 goals with 12 assists and was -5 with 38 PMs. Chappell scored 4 of his 9 goals on the power play. In 8 playoff games with the Road Warriors he had 1 assist and was an even plus/minus with 21 PMs.
Chappell is a big winger, who can bang and bring energy to a team. However, his skating is not up to NHL standards.
Chappell has spent the majority of his entry-level contract with the Rangers’ ECHL affiliates. Although he will get a chance to join Connecticut this Fall, he is likely to be returned to the ECHL for the 2011-12 season.
