2009-10: Started with Skellefteå J20, scoring 4 points in 3 games before making the big club and playing 47 games with. In his time there, Rundblad would score 1 goal and 12 assists with Skellefteå. He would also play a role with Sweden’s Bronze Medal Team at the World Juniors, scoring 5 points in 6 games.
2010-11: Rundblad would be acquired via trade in the 2010 draft for the 16th overall pick in 2011. He would go on to register 11 goals and 50 points in 55 games. When asked about Rundblad, Ottawa GM Bryan Murray had this to say: "When we traded for him, we knew that he was a good player. We gave up a first-round pick wondering if we could get that good a player in the draft last year and we felt we couldn’t. He went back and he played extremely well. He’s a high-skill guy. I think the fact that he was able to play where he played was great. The other thing we knew is that he was going to play for Anders Forsberg, who had scouted for us prior to that. We knew he was going to get lots of ice time, lots of development and, obviously, he did a heck of a job."
2011-12: Rundblad made his NHL debut with the Senators, playing primarily bottom-pairing minutes. He was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes in mid-December for for center Kyle Turris.
