History
2007-08: David Toews, the younger brother of Jonathan Toews, played for Shattuck-St. Mary’s High School in Minnesota last season. He recorded 100 points (44+56) in 51 games. He tied for the team lead in goals and ranked third in assists and second in points. He singed a Letter of Intent to attend the University of North Dakota (WCHA) in the fall of 2008.
2008-09: Toews had a respectable first year at the powerhouse University of North Dakota as a true freshman. There was not a lot of pressure with the quality veterans they had. This allowed Coach Dave Hakstol to move guys along naturally and patiently and it paid off.
2009-10: With a name like 'Toews', David would havemany eyes on him following his brother's time with North Dakota. In his second season with the Fighting Sioux, Toews would four goals and 11 assists en route to an NCAA (WCHA) Championship with UND.
