History
2009-10: Offensively, Dumont has enjoyed a great deal of success in 2009-10 with the Drummondville Voltigeurs. His production has exploded, resulting in new career highs in goals, assists, and points. The Voltigeurs have been dominant this year, ranked second in goals for, and second overall in the QMJHL standings. Dumont has benefited from playing with 2011 top prospect Sean Couturier, but cannot be fully discredited either.
2010-11: Dumont filled a valuable energy line role as a 20-year-old and chipped in offensively during the playoffs for AHL Hamilton in his first pro season. In 64 regular season games, Dumont, a 51-goal scorer for Drummondville the previous season, tallied a modest 5 goals with 13 assists. He was fourth on the team with 79 PMs and had a -4 plus/minus. In 20 playoff games he scored 6 goals with 3 assists and was -3 with just 6 PMs as the North Division champs advanced to the AHL semifinals.
Talent Analysis
A prolific scorer in his last year in juniors, Dumont has focused on providing energy and checking at the pro level, both of which come naturally. He is far from timid and not at all deterred by physicality, despite not being very big at 5'10. Dumont possesses a great deal of determination. Perhaps one of his greatest attributes is his competitive streak.
Future
So long as Dumont continues to play with his usual determination, he will always be a player to keep an eye on. He will probably spend the 2011-12 campaign in Hamilton.
