History
2007-08: Centered for a number of teams in the Swedish league's, but spent most of the season with Djurgardens. Scored 31 points (14g+17a) in 34 games. Also represented his country at the U17 and U18 WJC, putting up decent numbers.
2008-09: Played for Djurgardens in the SEL posting 16 points in 50 games. Was part of Team Sweden in the U18 and U20 World Championships. Selected by the Devils in the 1st round of the 2009 NHL draft.
Talent Analysis
Josefson is a highly skilled center. He plays a strong two-way game and is a very good, all-round player. Hockey sense is excellent and skating ability and technical skills are above average. Nice creativity with the puck and Josefson is also a talented playmaker and decent goal scorer. However, he could use some work on his shot and not always look for the pass, but to finish plays by himself. Makes smart decisions and plays a mature game. Gets involved in the rough stuff and plays the body at times. Is strong, both physically and mentally, and stands out with his very good defensive game.
Future
Josefson is the prototypical Devils prospect; a player who thrives at playing a cerebral, two-way game. The Devils have no plans to rush him, but there is a thought that he won't need much more development time before being NHL ready. His contract with Djurgardens is up at the end of this season, and it would not be a surprise to see him signed and in North America, competing for a roster spot in New Jersey in 2010-11.
