History

2005-06: Sifers capped a stellar career at the University of Vermont leading all Catamounts defensemen in scoring for the third consecutive year with 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) in 38 games. The Catamounts captain was named an honorable mention to the Hockey East All-Conference team. He finishes his four-year career at the University of Vermont with 70 points (15 goals, 55 assists) playing in 143 games. Sifers was also just the second three-time team captain in the program’s history

Talent Analysis

Sifers is a small but very powerful two-way defenseman. Despite being just 5’11”, he makes extremely good use of his tremendous body strength in defending against the opposition. Sifers has demonstrated that he can also be a real physical presence, often throwing his body around and effectively finishing his checks. He’s a tireless worker and competitor who leads by example. Sifers is a smooth skater with power in his strides. While his numbers may not reflect it, Sifers possesses some offensive touch and outstanding puck skills, particularly in his passing ability. He has little trouble getting pucks to the net and can quarterback the power play. One of Sifer’s best attributes is his very heavy shot. He is a very smart player who follows plays quite well. Sifers is also very good in transitioning and has a keen sense of knowing when to jump into plays without sacrificing his defensive duties.
