History

2007-08: Backstopping the St. John’s Fog Devils (QMJHL), Allen finished the season with a 9-12-0 record, a 3.14 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. On top of seeing QMJHL action, the netminder also represented Team Canada at the U-18 WC tournament. He went 6-1-0 with two shutouts and a 1.43 goals against average.

2008-09: Allen played for the Montreal Juniors (formerly the St. John’s Fog Devils) in 2008-09 and his stock definitely rose. During the season, the tall and lanky goaltender had 28 wins and 25 losses with a respectable .916 save percentage and a 2.86 goals against average. He also earned a spot on the QMJHL team for the 2008 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge.

Talent Analysis

He displays excellent lateral movement and strong positional play. Allen is always on his toes and moves quickly between the pipes. He’s great at moving the puck, feeding the puck to open defenders to quickly spur on the attack. He’s also strong at controlling the puck when he makes a save, limiting rebounds and keeping square to the shooter. Vulnerable up high.

Future

Allen will return to the Montreal Juniors for 2009-10.
