-08: In his first season of USHL play, Newton posted 11 goals and 14 assists through 56 games.
-09: Registered 10 goals and 28 assists in 59 games for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL.
-10: After finishing one season at Northeastern University, where he posted 9 goals and 13 assists through 34 games, Newton signed an entry-level deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
-11: Newton appeared in 48 games for AHL Syracuse as a first-year pro but despite seeing a lot of ice time early in the year did not put up the big offensive numbers that he had put up in his one college season at Northeastern. He finished with 2 goals and 7 assists. On a Crunch team that allowed 32 more goals than it scored, he was -18 with 6 PMs.
Newton was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche in the deal that sent Kyle Cumiskey to the Anaheim Ducks.
