History

2004-05: Playing for Christian Brothers Academy (New Jersey), as well as the Brick Hockey Club (New Jersey), vanRiemsdyk totaled 60 points (36 goals, 24 assists) in just 30 games.  He was named First-Team All-State.  Despite his great production, he was not widely recognized until he attended a USA Hockey Summer Camp.

 

2005-06: vanRiemsdyk split his inaugural season with the NTDP between the U-17 and U-18 team.  In 42 games with the U-17 team, vanRiemsdyk recorded 42 points (26 goals, 16 assists) and 62 PIM in 55 games.  In 14 games with the U-18 Team, vanRiemsdyk recorded four points (one goal, three assists).  He was a member of the U-18 Team USA squad that won the gold at the Ice Hockey Federation World Under-18 Championships.  He was also an instrumental piece of the U-17 Team USA squad that won the silver medal at the 2006 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where in seven games he notched nine points (five goals, four assists), and was subsequently named to the All-Tournament Team. 

 

2006-07: vanRiemsdyk proved himself as an upper-first round draft pick during his second season playing for the NTDP.  Using his 6’3, 200 LBS frame, vanRiemsdyk powered his way to a 63-point season (33 goals, 30 assists) and 81 PIM in just 42 games.  He led the NTDP in goals, points, PPG (11), and GWG (6).  He finished second overall on the NTDP in assists and PIM.  He skated for Team USA at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden.  Heading into the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, vanRiemsdyk was ranked third among NA skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
