Jason Pitton

Prospect Grade: 6.5 D  (About Prospect Grades)

History

Pitton enjoyed a successful 2004-05 season with the Greyhounds of the OHL, where he was fifth on his team in scoring. Pitton was able to more than double his production, as the big winger showed good progression over last season.

2005-06: Jason Pitton seems to be developing nicely into energy forward with some scoring touch. The problem with that development for Pitton this season was traded from his team of the last three seasons, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to the Guelph Storm where his production significantly dropped from almost a point a game pace to under a point every two games.

2006-07: Played his rookie season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, where he skated on a line with Masi Marjamaki and Petteri Nokelainen. In 76 games, he totaled 19 points (9g, 10a) and 65 penalty minutes.

Talent Analysis

An energy type forward with a good speed and overall skills. He has decent size and can be a dominant presence physically, particularly around the net. Pitton is a hardworking player who likes to hit. He still needs work in many areas, most noticeably in his defensive zone coverage.
