2005-06: Ryznar had a solid, yet unspectacular first pro season in the AHL, that also saw him receive a brief eight-game stint in New Jersey with the Devils. While he didn’t light up the scoreboard (seven goals, 18 assists for 25 points in 59 games), Ryznar was steady defensively and was probably one of the most consistent players in terms of effort night in and night out. His -4 rating on a defensively challenged team is a testament to his strong play in his own end.
2006-07: Ryznar’s second season in the AHL was much more trying than his first. He was in and out of the line up quite often, and missed a handful of games at the tail end of the season after suffering a nasty gash to his face from a skate. In 55 games, he scored five goals and five assists.
