History

Jean-Claude Sawyer was part of a strong defensive corps with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, who played in front of Marc-Andre Fleury and then Ondrej Pavelec, a good situation for any young defenseman.

Minnesota's 8th choice (5th round), 161st overall, in 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Unsigned by the Wild.

Signed by the Blackhawks in the summer of 2007.

2007-08: Assigned to the ECHL Pensacola Ice Pilots.

Talent Analysis

Sawyer is an offensive defenseman.  He doesn't stay very tight on his man and needs to ramp up his intensity level as a pro.
