History
2007-08: Backstopped Michigan State to a national championship last season. In addition to being named a Hobey Baker finalist this year, Lerg is the only hockey player to be named a finalist for the prestigious James E. Sullivan Award, which recognizes the top collegiate athlete in the United States. In 41 appearances this season, Lerg posted a 24-12-5 record that included four shutouts. His .926 save percentage currently ranks fourth in the nation, while his 2.22 goals against average ranks 18th. His four shutouts are tied for ninth in the nation. As one of college hockey's hardest working netminders, Lerg is also one of its workhorses. His 2464:14 minutes played ranks second in the country. His stellar season earned him a spot on the All-CCHA First Team. He was also named the CCHA's Scholar Athlete of the Year. Lerg carries a 3.7 GPA as a Finance major.
