Prospect Grade: 6.0 D  (About Prospect Grades)

History

2006-07: Woywitka split the season between the AHL and the NHL. The first portion of the year was spent mainly in Peoria, where Woywitka scored 18 points in 41 games. This performance earned him a chance in St. Louis, and he showed steady improvement throughout the final weeks of the season, scoring his first NHL goal, and finishing with seven points in 34 games.

Talent Analysis

Woywitka is a two-way defenseman. He is a strong skater, and can fire the puck from the point well. He has good size, but he is not an overly physical player.

Future

Woywitka was hoping to crack the Blues’ roster out of camp, but ended up beginning the year in the minors once again. It seems unlikely that he will become the top-four defenseman the Blues were hoping for when they acquired him in the Chris Pronger trade.
