Jiri Cetkovsky

Prospect Grade: 4.0   (About Prospect Grades)

History

Using a 5th round pick to land a big, skilled forward in the Czech junior leagues had some Flames fans salivating at the time, however now no one seems to know what happened to Jiri Cetkovsky. He had a terrible year for the Calgary Hitmen in 2002-03 and has since fallen off the radar, playing for his hometown team and Czech second division side HC Prostejov in 2003-04.

Talent Analysis

Depends on the year, really. In his draft year there were reports of raw talent that needed to be worked on, however when he came over to North America it looked like there was no amount of work that could make him a useful WHLer let alone an NHLer. An enigma to say the least.

Future

Bleak, and getting bleaker by the day. The fact that he was such an epic disappointment once coming over and has since faded into relative European obscurity leaves any future remotely close to the NHL in doubt.
