History

Jensen played two seasons in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede. Over the course of these 2 seasons, Jensen tallied 34 goals and 46 assists for 80 points.

2002-03: Jensen proceeded to play college hockey at St. Cloud State. He led all St. Cloud freshman in points with 18 (nine goals, nine assists).

2003-04: Jensen was drafted in the eight round, 232nd overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He had a very productive season, finishing second on the team in assists (14), third on St. Cloud in points (24), and third in goals (10).

2004-05: Jensen continued to progress, finishing second on the team in points (26) and goals (12). He also finished third on the team in assists with 14. Jensen was rewarded for his efforts with the Sam LoPresti Award for Most Determined Player, and was a WHCA All-Academic selection.

2005-06: Jensen closed his career at St. Cloud with a career high in points goals (14), assists (18), and points (32). He finished second on the team in goals and points. He was once again selected to WHCA All-Academic team and repeated as the Sam LoPresti Award winner,

2006-07: Jensen split the season between the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Jensen was named to the American Conference All-Star roster in the ECHL, recording 29 points in 28 games (11 goals, 18 assists). Jensen also played 26 games at the AHL level.

2007-08: Jensen has spent time playing at the ECHL, AHL, and NHL level so far this season. Jensen split time between the Wheeling Nailers and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins before being traded to Carolina. He made his NHL debut February 18th against the New Jersey Devils, but has primarily played for the Albany River Rats of the AHL.

Talent Analysis

Jensen has above average speed and displays offensive ability. That being said he is undersized and suffers from the occasional defensive lapse.

Future

While Jensen has put forth the effort to improve his game, he is still probably best suited as a reserve forward.
