History
Johansson played in the J-18 league as well as in the J-20 before being drafted. His last season with HV71 started off strong but was hurt by a broken collarbone. He again started off a very impressive campaign as a rookie in the WHL garnering player of the week accolades and raising some eyebrows immediately. Unfortunately, on his first shift at the Under 20 championships for Sweden his skate got stuck in the ice along the boards and he broke his ankle.
Began the 2004-05 with the AHL Portland Pirates. Assigned to the South Carolina Stingrays in January 2005.
Talent Analysis
Johansson has improved his physical play and defensive awareness. His skating is smooth and he handles the puck with confidence while keeping his head up for playmaking opportunities. He has a high level of creativity with the puck and shows a competitive fire at times on the ice. Johansson can get thrown off his game with physical play and will need to improve his ability to fight through checks.
