History
Nick-named "Podge".
2006-07: Played for Waterloo of the USHL and was second on the team in goals (25), assists (29) and points (54) in 60 games, seeing time on both the powerplay and the penalty kill. Turnbull was named to the USHL All-Rookie Team. Drafted by the Kings with their second choice in the fifth round.
2007-08: Turnbull turned in a modest performance as a freshman with the University of Wisconsin. He played more of a physical grinder role on the fourth line with spot duty supporting the more skilled forwards on the second line. His 11 points in 37 games is a respectable total to increase on as he gains more experience in the college game.
2008-09: Hampered by the sophomore jinx, Turnbull took a significant step backwards in his development. Turnbull cut his point production down to six points as he rarely found himself in the lineup and saw even less ice time.
Talent Analysis
Turnbull is a high-energy forward with average but developing offensive skills. He is attentive to the defensive side of the rink and has found playing time as a result.
Future
Turnbull will return to the University of Wisconsin for his junior season in 2009-10. Passed up on the depth charts at Wisconsin by more talented forwards, Turnbull is also being passed up on the Los Angeles depth charts. It will be a longshot for him to be signed by the Kings upon graduation.
