Jussi Timonen
Prospect Grade: 5.0 C (About Prospect Grades)
History
The younger brother of Nashville Predators defenseman Kimmo Timonen, Jussi Timonen has played forward and defense, but his future is on the blueline. He played last season with KalPa Kuopio and is an SM-Liiga rookie this season for perrenial contender TPS Turku.
Talent Analysis
Timonen is a smooth skater and puckhandler who has some offensive upside. He is bigger and stronger than his diminutive older brother but he is not quite as polished all-around as Kimmo was at the same age. Like his older brother, finesse, smarts and speed will be Jussi's calling cards.
The Flyers chief European scout, Inge Hammarström has compared Jussi's skating and puckhandling abilities to what Flyers scouts saw in ex-Flyer Janne Niinimaa when Niinimaa was coming up through the ranks of Kärpät Oulu.
