History

2008-09: Bernhardt played in his sixth and final year in the WHL, finishing off his junior career with the Prince Albert Raiders(WHL). He had 92 points in 72 games, good for 35 goals and 57 assists. At the conclusion of the season, the Phoenix Coyotes signed him to an entry-level contract.

2009-10: In his first professional season, Bernhardt played 43 games split between the AHL and ECHL. In the AHL he posted 1 goal and 2 assists in 14 games. In the ECHL, he posted 5 goals, 6 assists in 29 games.

2010-11: Bernhardt skated in 47 of 72 games for the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers in his second pro season and scored 6 goals with 19 assists. He was -3 and accumulated 29 PMs. He skated in all five playoff games for the Wranglers and was -1 with 2 assists and 14 PMs.

This season, many Montreal Canadiens prospects graduated into professional hockey. Charles Hudon capped a phenomenal QMJHL career in 2013-14 while Martin Reway left the Gatineau Olympiques for HC Sparta Praha in the Czech League. Connor Crisp and Dalton Thrower have stepped up to the Hamilton Bulldogs to test their physical style of play against AHL competition.

Last Thursday, forward Andrej Nestrasil was claimed on waivers from the Detroit Red Wings, the team that drafted him in 2009, by the Carolina Hurricanes. Nestrasil wasted little time in making an impact with his new team, scoring his first NHL goal in his first game with the Hurricanes in what ended up being a 4-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. The Pittsburgh Penguins have a scant group of prospects playing at the Canadian major junior and junior-A levels of hockey. For a variety of reasons, the Penguins organization drafted only two players from the CHL over the past two seasons and has only one player currently playing in the USHL.
