Kevin Kantee was a U.S. citizen who played for Jokerit Jr. the last three seasons. The Hawks scouts were there to watch Tuomo Ruutu and like what they saw in this lanky defenseman.
Kantee spent excessive time in Jokerit juniors but never dominated no matter how far he developed. When given a chance in the World Juniors Championships and in SM-Liiga in 2004, he played just the same – an admirable all-around game.
