History
Radke was the fourth attacker most nights for the Storm, jumping up into the play to record 47 points in 53 games. Point-per-game defensemen are a rare commodity at any level, and Radke was an extremely valuable component as the Storm made a run at the Royal Bank Cup, emblematic of Junior A supremacy in Canada.
Eligible for the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, unselected.
Talent Analysis
Not the biggest d-man out there, Radke’s gift lies in his ability to quarterback a powerplay. His first asset is a good shot, with the ability to keep it low and on net. A fluid skater with solid lateral and backwards mobility, Radke can jump into the play and get back in time to help out on defense. He has exceptional vision of the ice, and a sixth sense about when to pinch in and get involved. Not a big hitter, he is a solid one-on-one defender. Smallish defenders usually face a steep uphill climb to impress scouts, but Radke seems to have the tools to succeed.
Future
He’s off to play for North Dakota College’s Fighting Sioux in the Western Collegiate Athletic Association in the 2004-05 hockey season.
