History

2000-01: Koopmans originally made Lethbridge, but returned back to Cranbrook for personal reasons. He went on to play for Columbia Valley in the KIJHL. He put up nice numbers for that league.

2001-2: He was not named to the CHL Prospects game in February which was a surprise as he was the No. 1 ranked WHL goalie.

2004-05 through 2006-07:  Koopmans played for the ECHL Toledo Storm.

2007-08: Signed to an extension by the Red Wings, who have very few goaltenders in the system.  Had hernia surgery at the beginning of the year, and by mid-February is still out.

Talent Analysis

Koopmans is good-sized goalie who covers the net well and possesses great reflexes. He is very quick and has solid positioning. He is very competitive and works hard to improve himself.

Future

Needs to first make a comeback from hernia surgery, then think about progress.
