The Big Ten is one of two brand new conferences debuting in the NCAA this season. There’s much anticipation and excitement surrounding this new conference and, with 50 NHL prospects playing in the Big Ten this season, it is certain to be among the most-watched conferences.

After a successful return to the playoffs in 2013, the Montreal Canadiens are attempting to continue their youth movement at the NHL level by adding two rookies to their 2013-14 NHL roster.

The Montreal Canadiens have a good mix of talent among their prospects playing in Europe and the NCAA. The organization has eight forwards and four defensemen in this group that possesses varying degrees of speed, skill, physicality, size, and grit. These young prospects have shown improvement in their development this year and could add good overall depth to the Canadiens' lineup in the near future.

The Montreal Canadiens' prospects as a group have shown solid improvement to their overall games this season. Some players have struggled with injuries and finding their games again but most of the group are exceeding their play of last year. The organization's depth and skill in their talent pool is probably the best it's been in quite some time.

Using the 2012 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens' greatly improved their organizational prospect pool over the past off-season. GM Marc Bergevin has changed the organizational philosophy by adding a bigger management staff, more scouting, and a development team to work with the prospects at all hockey levels and leagues.
