History

Mitera is one of the most highly-regarded collegians eligible for this year’s NHL draft. The 6’3/210 lbs. defenseman from Livonia, MI posted ten points (all assists) in 39 appearances this season. Mitera, a CCHA All-Rookie Team honorable mention, was one of three University of Michigan Wolverines who represented the United States at the 2006 IIHF WJC in Vancouver.

Talent Analysis

A strong-skating defensive blue-liner, Mitera’s main asset is shutting down and neutralizing any attacking forward who might find himself in the big Michigan native’s sights. While not flashy, Mitera won’t hesitate to send an opposing player into the boards and send the puck back up the ice for a quick counter-attack.

A leader on and off the ice, Mitera will never put up gaudy offensive numbers, but he is mainly asked to prevent goals, rather then score them. He will need to continue to refine and polish his already airtight defensive game.

Future

Mitera is expected to move on to pro hockey for the 2009-10 season.
