History

2002-03: Starred for Des Moines of the USHL. Named to the USHL Allstar team and All-USHL 2nd Team.

9th Round, #274 overall, 2003 by Los Angeles

2003-04: Guerin was the final selection for the Kings in the 2003 Entry Draft, but you wouldn't know it from looking at his 2003-04 season. He put up formidable numbers with Miami, finding his way onto the top scoring line at times and even spent some time killing penalties. With the graduation of the Redhawks top three forwards to graduation, Guerin will have an even larger role to play with the team but might suffer from a drop in talent from his linemates.

2004-05: An injury early in the season slightly derailed the tremendous beginning to the season that Guerin jumped out to. With 10 points (5 G, 5A) in the first four games, Guerin suffered an injury in Miami's sixth game that would sideline him for about one month. Slow to recover the momentum he built for himself, Guerin would scrap and claw the rest of the season but manage to post the same total of points as his freshman campaign in 8 less games.

2005-06: Guerin gave much up in his personal game and Miami-OH would reap the benefits as a team. Called upon to play a more team-oriented, defensive game as a team, Guerin found himself playng deep in his own zone on a nightly basis to dig pucks out and protect the defense and goalie. As a result, Guerin's scoring chances were way down as he often was the last forward to cross the blueline. Those few chances he received, Guerin had trouble finishing off. Consequently, the 16 points on 8 goals in 36 games are far off his career totals.

Talent Analysis

Guerin is a fiesty forward that does well in each zone on the ice. He has a good group of offensive skills and plays with hustle and determination that allow him to excel on the defensive side. A team leader who impresses early and gains the trust of his coaches. Not a big player but does not wilt under physical pressure. In the long run, will do better as a defensive stopper than a scorer.
