History

2005-06: Played with HC Plzen before heading to HC Kladno. He spilt the year between Kladno's U-20 team and their top team in the Czech Extraliga. He was a force in the junior ranks, but was held pointless in coutries' top league.

2006-07: Made his North Amercian debut with the PEI Rocket in the QMJHL. After starting the season off slow, his game started to take off after Christmas. Head coach Yanick Jean confirmed that the crafty winger suffered from a bit of culture shock and was hindered by his ability to understand the North American style and the team’s system early on. However, Jean reiterated that once Latal was able to make a full transition – both on and off the ice – his confidence, presence and production increased immensely. He went onto apply what he was learning and continued to see time in all areas. Jean said that even as there was a spike in his offensive production, Latal’s blazing speed also made him the team's best penalty killer. He finished the season seventh overall in team scoring and ninth overall in rookie scoring.

Talent Analysis

Latal has a speed and overall offensive talent, however, he’s going to need to tighten up his defensive game. He’s also a little on the smaller side and needs to add some weight.

Future

The PEI Rocket of the QMJHL selected Latal in the 2006 CHL Import Draft. He will honor the selection and play in North American junior league to help increase his professional chances.
