History
2006-07: Scored only four points in 32 games for UMass in limited ice-time. His lone goal came in his first college hockey match, a game-winner against Sacred Heart.
2007-08: Only in his second season with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, contributing sparingly to the scoresheet. But Nolet's name was made more on solid defensive play than finding the back of the net. Was a mainstay on the second defensive pairing alongside Mike Kostka, providing the defensive coverage that freed Kostka to join in the offensive rushes.
2008-09: Nolet continues to steadily improve his game as a defensive defenseman. In his junior season with UMass-Amherst, Nolet improved his point total a second time to a modest 9 points. But his major contributions are on the defensive side of the rink where is relied upon for his physical play and steading force.
Talent Analysis
Nolet is a big kid that does a good job of using his size to control the opposition's forwards against the boards. A solid skater for someone his size with a slowly developing offensive game; likely will remain a defensive defenseman though.
Future
Nolet will return to UMass in the fall. As a physical stay at home defenseman, what you already see is likely to be what you get from Nolet. He might be slated to fill the role of a Joe Piskula or Drew Bagnall is the organization fails to sign either in the offseason.
