History
Aubin is an ’86-born player who missed the 2004 draft cut-off by just three days. Aubin missed 20 games of the season, including the Top Prospects Game in Vancouver. He helped to elevate his status in the playoffs by putting up nine points in eight games, a first-round sweep over Cape Breton, and then being swept by Rimouski.
5th round (130th overall), 2005
2006-07: Aubin split the season between Hamilton (AHL) and Cincinnati (ECHL). He played in his first-career AHL game on Oct. 6 vs. Manitoba. He recorded his first-career AHL point, an assist, vs. Toronto on Oct. 20 and his first-career goal on Nov. 3 against Syracuse.
2007-08: Aubin again shifted between Hamilton (AHL) and Cincinnati (ECHL), playing in 20 games with the Bulldogs and another 47 with the Cyclones. He recorded 57 points in the ECHL regular season, and another 14 (8+6) in 22 postseason games with the Cyclones.
Talent Analysis
Aubin has the hands of a natural goal scorer. Unfortunately, he doesn't yet have the wheels to match. A late birthday, the club would like to see him work on his foot speed and overall strength - two aspects which could have been well served playing frequently as a junior overager, but he did make the jump to the pro ranks.
A player with a good frame, Aubin is isn’t nearly physical enough.
