History

2006-07: Cobeil-Theriault was chosen in the fourth round (62nd overall) of the 2007 QMJHL Draft by the Halifax Mooseheads.

2007-08: Corbeil-Theriault missed the cut at the Mooseheads training camp, and was returned to the Etoiles de l’Est Midget Espoir team that he played for in 2006-07.

2008-09: In his QMJHL rookie season, Corbeil-Theriault played in 24 games for the Mooseheads.  He turned in a 4.44 goals-against average and a .873 save percentage while compiling a 3-14-0 record.

2009-10: Corbeil-Theriault played in 50 games for the Mooseheads, posting a 3.83 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage while earning an 8-39-0 record.  With a September birthday, he's one of the oldest players in the 2010 draft class.

2010-11: Corbeil-Theriault struggled as a starter in 25 games for Halifax before being traded to eventual Memorial Cup champion Saint John in mid-season. As a backup to QMJHL veteran and one-time Flyers' prospect Jacob DeSerres with the Sea Dogs, Corbeil-Theriault put up much better numbers. He was 8-15 with a 3.76 GAA and .867 save percentage for Halifax prior to the trade. In 15 games with Saint John he was 13-2 with a 2.17 GAA and .908 save percentage. DeSerres handled the bulk of the goaltending in the QMJHL playoffs and in six games Corbeil-Theriault was 4-0 with 1 shutout and had a 1.54 GAA and .936 save percentage. Corbeil-Theriault was in net for the Sea Dogs' only loss at the Memorial Cup, stopping 40 of 45 shots in a 5-4 overtime loss to WHL champion Kootenay as the Sea Dogs were badly out-shot.

Talent Analysis

At 6'6, the Montreal native naturally covers a large amount of the net. Coupling that with quickness between the pipes and an excellent glove hand and it is easy to see why Corbeil was invited to attend Hockey Canada's goaltender camp this summer. Although his game still needs plenty of work, especially controlling rebounds and mentally bouncing back from a bad goal, Corbeil is a project who could pay big dividends for the Blue Jackets if he reaches his ceiling.

Future

Will get an opportunity to earn the starter’s job for last year’s Memorial Cup Champion Saint John Sea Dogs in 2011-12. Playing behind a winning team could do wonders for his confidence.
