History
2003-04: Christie had a remarkable season as a freshman with the University of Miami Redhawks. He primarily played on a line with fellow freshman winger Marty Guerin and Senior Derek Edwardson. The trio formed Miami’s most dangerous line. Christie tallied 21 goals which led the team. He also led the team with eight power play goals and four game winning goals. Christie was named to the All-CCHA Rookie Team.
Drafted 236th overall (8th round) in the 2004 Entry Draft by Anaheim. Unsigned.
Talent Analysis
Christie is an offensive winger that thrives on finding open space in the offensive zone and capitalizing on his quick wrist shot. That is not to say that Christie is a floater, quite the contrary. He is a hard worker and a terrific skater. Christie plays an intelligent game, sees the ice well and is adept at separating himself from defensive coverage.
Future
Christie will have to overcome his slight stature to play at the next level, but he hasn’t shown any trepidation in playing in traffic so far.
2007-08: Signed to a contract by the AHL Portland Pirates, he is currently assigned to the ECHL Augusta Lynx.
