History

Hails from Westford, Massachusetts and played Division I NE Prep High School Hockey with the Belmont Hill School.  Led his team in scoring with a 26 point total (15g, 11a) in 22 games as a junior and was captain of the squad for his senior season leading them to the Independent League title.

Talent Analysis

According to Belmont Hill’s head coach Ken Martin, McCollem is a skilled forward with superior skating ability, who also plays a very physical game. He has great on-ice vision with a strong awareness of what’s going on around him, and has recently made strides in his defensive play. He possesses excellent passing and puckhandling skills, and an accurate shot. He’s got a solid work ethic and gets along well with his teammates. McCollem tends to be very unselfish with the puck and will often pass to a teammate when he could easily take a shot himself. As team captain, he is soft spoken and leads by example. Most recently played center, but is versatile enough to play wing. McCollem is a young player with plenty of room to grow, but if he continues to progress, has pro potential.

Future

Will attend Harvard University in the fall.
