The 2010-11 season was one of the last standout seasons in a long line of playoff seasons for the Detroit Red Wings. The Dallas Stars have been a finely-tuned offensive machine in the 2015-16 season, which is good because the prospect pool is a little short on elite-level talent. Nor is the situation helped by the loss of Brett Pollock to Calgary in the Kris Russell trade, and the graduation of Mattias Janmark. A good mix of intelligent players and useful depth players make up most of the pipeline. Standout players like Julius Honka and power forward Brett Ritchie do provide impact upside.
With a glut of players developing in their farm system but Stanley Cup dreams abounding, the Dallas Stars have found little use for their prospects over the course of this season – with one exception, Mattias Janmark. Otherwise, the call-ups have been generally short in nature but have yielded some promising early returns. The Dallas Stars organization is brimming with potential in their minor pro ranks. With many recent draft picks graduated from the junior and collegiate ranks, their AHL club is practically overflowing with potential. As a result, the junior and collegiate ranks are a little short on upside, but the proximity of their best and brightest is promising and exciting for management and fans alike.
The American Hockey League vastly changed the hockey universe’s landscape when it moved five teams to California for the start of the 2015-16 season. And the Pacific Division will be ground zero for the experiment, where the California five will share a division with the two Texas-based franchises. Read more»
