History
Selected by the Maple Leafs as a 20-year-old in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Was a teammate of former Leafs prospect Max Kondratiev and 2004 fifth round pick Dmitri Vorobiev at Lada.
2004-05: Semenov put together a strong season with Lada Togliatti, tallying a total six points (2 goals, 4 assists), 79 penalty mintes and a +12 rating in 59 games.
2005-06: Semenov played a prominent role on Lada's blueline, but opted to sign with Khimik (Mystiche) towards the end of the season. He had played 23 games with Lada with a total 2 assists and 24 penalty minutes before moving on to Khimik, where he played in 9 postseason games and scored one goal.
2006-07: In his first full season with Khimik, Semenov appeared in 51 games. He totaled 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) 56 penalty minutes and a -3 rating.
Talent Analysis
Somewhat undersized by NHL standards for rearguards, Semenov has the ability to play physical, and is good overall positionally. Primarily a defensive defenseman.
Future
Will play for Khimik in the 2007-08 season.
