History

-Named the top goalie during the 2001 Memorial Cup.
The St-Jacques-le-Mineur native came into his own during the 2001-02 QMJHL playoffs. He grabbed the Foreurs' No. 1 spot, losing only once through 10 games.

His statistics through that period were particularly impressive. He led Val d'Or to the QMJHL championship, recording a 2.50 goals against to go along with an impressive .919 save percentage.

The Magog product continued his strong play through the Memorial Cup Tournament in Regina. He was named the tournament's top goalie, as he finished with a 3-2 record to go along with a 3.22 goals against average, and an .891 save percentage.

Daigneault played on the Canadian entry into the 2002 under-18 championship. Invited to 2004 Team Canada National Junior Team selection camp.

Daigneault’s play in Val-d’Or was extremely inconsistent in 2003-04, but he was still signed to a three-year contract with the Capitals in the summer of 2004. The Capitals sent Daigneault to their new ECHL affiliate, the South Carolina Stingrays, in 2004-05.

Talent Analysis

The 6'1, 185-pound goaltender plays a typical butterfly style. He has an excellent glove hand, and relies on his size to make difficult saves look easy. Like many young goalies, Daigneault needs to get quicker, particularly when he's moving laterally. Although his technique is more developed than most goalies his age, Daigneault could always improve certain aspects of his game. More specifically developing a tighter butterfly, thereby staying away of pucks slipping under the arms.
