History

The Rangers signed Busto, who played his overage 2006-07 season with the WHL Kootenay Ice, to an NHL contract on May 2, 2007.

2006-07: This was Busto’s third season with the Kootenay Ice (WHL), a 70 game campaign that saw the D-man set career-highs in goals (20), assists (43) and points (63). He also racked up 79 penalty minutes and added three more points (1g+2a) in six playoff games.

2007-08: After a long WHL career, the defenseman moved up to the ECHL, where he appeared in 48 games with the Charlotte Checkers. He tallied four goals and 16 points total, numbers somewhat comparable to those he accumulated back in the WHL.

2008-09: Busto again spent the entire season with Charlotte (ECHL) where he tallied three goals and 11 points total.

Talent Analysis

Busto has the size and grit to play professional hockey, but his speed and defensive play do not seem suited for the professional game.
