2009-10: A rookie season with North Dakota would prove challenging for the young center. Appearing in 23 games with a talented team, Cichy would add 2 goals and 4 points.
2010-11: In his sophomore season, Cichy played a supplementary role in a North Dakota lineup dominated by upperclassmen. He appeared in 25 of the Fighting Sioux' 44 games and scored 3 goals with 4 assists with a -6 plus/minus and 6 PMs. Cichy played his final game for the Fighting Sioux in the regular season finale, an 11-2 win over Michigan Tech. He did not play in the post-season as North Dakota captured the WCHA and NCAA Midwest Regional titles before falling to Michigan in the Frozen Four semifinals. Cichy transferred to Western Michigan following the season.
Talent Analysis
