History
2006-07: Kostka played in 39 regular season games with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and earned 18 points with the Minutemen.
2007-08: Kostka completed his four-year collegiate career with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and served as team captain. He earned a college career high 21 points in his final season with the school, finishing with 53 points and 74 PIM in 143 games for Amherst. He made his AHL debut against Manitoba on Mar. 26.
Talent Analysis
Kostka served as a team captain for his college team, and was amongst the team leaders in plus/minus rating and scoring. He has good ability on the power play, having led all NCAA defensemen in that category in his career.
Future
After playing a game with Rochester this past season, he will likely continue with Portland. It will take some time for him to adjust to the higher level of play.
