History

2014-15: Mikhail Sergachev competed for Irbis Kazan of the MHL in Russia. In 25 games for that team, he scored 2 goals and added 6 assists for 8 points. Sergachev went scoreless in two playoff games for Kazan. Sergachev competed internationally for Russia at two major tournaments, the first being the 2014 World U17 Hockey Challenge. Sergachev netted a goal in 6 games for the gold medal-winning Russian squad. He also competed at the 2015 U18 World Championship where he went scoreless in 5 games. Sergachev was chosen in the first round, 6th overall, of the 2015 CHL Import Draft by the Windsor Spitfires.

2015-16: Sergachev moved to North America to compete for the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. Sergachev competed for Team Orr at the 2016 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, where he was held scoreless for the victorious Team Orr. Sergachev was ranked 10th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting in their midterm rankings for the 2016 NHL Draft. He was ranked 9th overall by ISS Hockey in their March rankings. Sergachev was chosen in the first round, ninth overall, of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.

The first round of the 2016 NHL Draft is now just a couple of days away, with the remainder of the draft taking place on Saturday at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY.

Earlier this month, ISS Hockey released their final top 30 for this year’s draft, along with their 2016 draft guide. The order in June barely changed from the list presented in May, but there was some minor shuffling within the top 10. Read more»

While the 2016 NHL Draft lacks some of the drama that was provided leading up to last year’s draft, when Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel vied for the right to go first overall, there is nevertheless some very good talent to be had at the top of this year’s event. And even beyond the top 5, NHL clubs drafting in the first round should be able to land some good talent that will almost certainly suit up for NHL action in the not too distant future. Read more»

The scouting arm of the NHL, NHL Central Scouting (CSS), released their final rankings for the 2016 NHL Draft in April. ISS Hockey (ISS), on the other hand, is still releasing their monthly rankings, with their final ranking yet to come in early June. Read more»

Team Russia wrapped up its preliminary round schedule with a 5-1 loss to Sweden at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship.
